BDAC was founded to represent and provide services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on Djaara Country.

Job Description

About the Position

The Wukangu Manya program acts as the first point of contact for community members seeking support through BDAC. It plays a vital role in responding to community needs and ensuring that individuals and families are connected to appropriate services in a timely, culturally safe, and respectful manner.

The Senior Case Manager - Homelessness and Housing plays a key role within the Wukangu Manya program, providing culturally safe, community-based support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals and families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

This position works closely with the Team Leader and other practitioners to deliver high quality, client centred services that promote housing stability, wellbeing, and self-determination. The Senior Case Manager also contributes to service development, mentoring of staff, and strengthening community relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive case management support to clients, including assessment, planning, advocacy, and coordination of services.
  • Deliver culturally appropriate interventions that are responsive to the needs of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Support the Team Leader in mentoring and guiding Intake Practitioners and Housing Case Managers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local housing providers, support services, and community organisations.
  • Contribute to program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation, reporting, and data entry in line with organisational and funding requirements.
  • Participate in community engagement activities to ensure services remain connected and relevant.
  • Uphold the values and principles of the Wukangu Manya program and broader organisational frameworks. 
  • Identify, establish, Collaborate, and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to ensure culturally safe and effective service delivery.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in case management within homelessness, housing, or related community services.
  • Ability to deliver culturally safe and trauma-informed support.
  • Applicants have a sound understanding of an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) environment and the local Aboriginal Community, with a Strong understanding of the issues impacting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly in relation to housing and homelessness.
  • An understanding of and commitment to strength-based practice, with experience in mentoring or supporting other practitioners.
  • Broad knowledge of the local service sector including sound knowledge of BDAC programs.
  • Demonstrated self-care strategies. 
  • Proven skills in risk assessment. 
  • Experience in data collection and recording platforms. 
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently but also promote a healthy teamwork environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Education, Training and/or Competencies.

Mandatory

  • Minimum Diploma of Community Services or equivalent

Preferred/ desired 

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community members or in an Aboriginal organisation.
